Keys Lewis Keyes Newsletter

Hello All,

Things we are still working on and expect to finalize soon. Please circulate the below information to other family members. The information below is may also be placed on other social media platforms. I will post on the KLK website under the Chairperson's tab.

  • Reunion Committee Update: As stated in previous correspondence, the committee will approach local hotels, parks, and recreational facilities to determine 2027 pricing and availability in July. Within the next 3-4 months, we’d like to able to give attendees an estimate cost of accommodation, dining, and local transportation…considering rental of 24 passengers vans. Determining these fees will enable us to determine the registration fee for member attendance.

  • Post card mailout: Mailed 180 or so post card April 17, 2026. Content announced scholarship application extension to May 1st. Revised date to July 1st via Facebook, keyslewiskeyes.org website, and various other social media. To date, we have received one application with three more enroute. Anticipate candidate selection by July 31, 2026. Please note: seventeen (17) cards returned without a forwarding address.

  • Circulation and distribution: Since we do not have a complete, up to date, address listing for everyone in the family, I urge those of you receiving the correspondence to share it with others and encourage them to submit their contact information to the chairperson (Adolph Keyes), via email: alkeyes@comcast.net. I will put the distribution list together and ensure it is passed to the next chairperson hosting the 2029 reunion.

  • KLK Reunion Blood Drive: Arrange for Red Cross to set up a voluntary blood drive collection center at the reunion. If acceptable, I’d like for this to become a traditional event at future reunions. We just need to contact the local Red Cross at each reunion location for logistics.

  • Reunion Committee Volunteer: Courtney Battles has volunteered to join the 2027 Reunion Committee. Her interest is in the scholarship program and the KLK website and has already made recommendations for the improvement of the KLK webpage. She is a welcome addition and will be used to facilitate what I am sure will be an excellent reunion. We will be looking to solidify the committee personnel in September.

  • KLK Heritage Scholarship: Until we meet, discuss and decide “vote” as a general body, the KLK Heritage Scholarship shall continue to exist. Reminder the scholarship fund is to support those who are pursuing academic excellence. Every applicant must show academic pursuit at a reputable academic institute and provide endorsement(s) from leaders, officials, or leaders in their sphere of influence. At present, we have extended the application deadline (submissions due June 30, 2026) and have received four applications, thus far. We expect to announce award recipients (2 @ $1,000 per) by 31 July, with checks mailed on or about August 15, 2026.A writeup will be posted on the KLK website, Facebook, and other family social media.

  • Silent Auction: Leonard Berry suggested a silent auction … noting that we can solicit raffle and auction items from family members, i.e., unused, new items off the closet shelves, gift cards setting on the mantle, etc. Items can be sent to the chairperson for storage and made available for distribution at the upcoming reunion.

  • Local garage sale(s). Operational expenses to host the reunion will, as always, come from the attendees. Members can volunteer to host a local garage sale and donate a portion of the proceeds to the KLK Operating Expense Fund … the balance of which is forwarded to future reunion committees. These efforts will allow us to keep registration fees to a minimum and allow the committee to offer more events at the reunion(s). In the past, some members have donated a portion of their business production. I still have my footies from Arizona.

  • KLK Hot Rod & Classic Car Show: I am communicating with a local classic car club to host a KLK Reunion Hot Rod & Classic Car Show at the reunion (local car club participation). We will arrange for 20-30 cars, more if possible, to attending Saturday events.

  • KLK Entertainment: Rochelle is handling these arrangements and shall have more details in the near future. Perhaps by the next chairperson’s update and KLK newsletter.

  • BBQ & recreation: At present the plan is to host a family BBQ. However, other excursions are being canvased. More information will be provided on costs and logistics:

    • Discovery Kingdom – Marine World of Vallejo

    • Hot-air ballooning

    • Napa & Sonoma Valley Wine Tasting (Love the Wine Train thru Napa and Sonoma)

  • KLK Website Management: The website allows us to share post reunion updates and make announcements of changes in the family. If you would like to communicate with the family, please send me an email – alkeyes@comcast.net – with your content. All contents must be appropriate for media distribution.

    • Military Honors: I have created a military honors page on the website to honor members of KLK who have served or are currently serving in the United States Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. I plan to change the format of the page to accommodate as many entries as possible. Send entries to Adolph Keyes: alkeyes@comcast.net.
