KLK Heritage Scholarship (KLKHS) – 2026 Application Announcement
I am pleased to announce that I have assumed the responsibilities and duties of the KLK Heritage Scholarship (KLKHS). As part of this transition, the 2026 application period has been extended to June 1, 2026.
​
Applicants may submit their applications electronically (via email in PDF format) or through written correspondence. All completed applications should be sent directly to me using the contact information provided below.
​
The KLK Heritage Scholarship is available to students who demonstrate excellent academic achievement and outstanding personal qualities, and who plan to pursue a college education or an advanced training certificate.
​
To be eligible, applicants must be:

A high school senior seeking college enrollment
-
A current college student (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior)
-
Enrolled in an accredited professional or vocational training program

Important Dates

Application Deadline: June 1, 2026

Award Announcement: By July 31, 2026
Please note: This is a one-time scholarship. Recipients may not receive the award more than once.

Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be a verified member of the Keys-Lewis-Keyes Family
-
High school graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 2.75
-
High school senior who has applied to an accredited college or university
-
Active college student (freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior) with a minimum GPA of 3.0
-
Active student in a professional or vocational training program with a strong endorsement
-
Be enrolled in an accredited course of advanced education or training
-
Must have taken the SAT or ACT examination
-
Must not be the child of a member serving on the selection committee
-
Must submit a complete application package by the deadline

All About Me
Adolph Leonard Keyes, Sr. - Parents Collins Keyes and Lou Gertha Landry. Raised mostly in Beaumont, Texas, but spent many years in Oakland, California. Attended Hebert High School but graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont, California. Earned Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology at Chapman University, Orange, California, earned Masters Public Administration degree at Southeastern University in Washington, District of Columbia.
Thirty-four-year retiree from United States Navy and United States Coast Guard. Military assignments include USS Tecumseh, SSBN 628, fleet ballistic missile submarine; executive officer Coast Guard Communication Station (COMMSTA) Kodiak Alaska; commanding officer Coast Guard Electronic Systems Unit (ESU) Alameda California; and several department head assignments at Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, DC.

Retirement hobbies include golf, automobile restoration, construction, building internet websites, and domestic and foreign travel. Recent travel to Rome, Italy, Croatia, Panama, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Caribbean, London, Montenegro, Greece, and Malta. Favorite travel locations - Mykonos, Greece and Seville, Spain. Though I enjoyed visiting the Vatican, I felt the city was entirely too busy.
